Michiel Riedijk studied architecture at the Technical University in Delft, the Netherlands, where he graduated with a Master in Architecture in 1989. In 1992, he established the Rotterdam based office Neutelings Riedijk Architects with Willem Jan Neutelings. Some exemplar works are the MAS Museum in Antwerp, the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision in Hilversum, and the Culture House ‘Rozet’ in Arnhem. Currently the office is working on several projects such as the Dutch Natural History Museum ‘Naturalis’ in Leiden, the ‘ZIL Art’ Towers in Moscow and the ‘Gare Maritime’ in Brussels. Since 2007, Riedijk is also Professor of Public Building at the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment at the Technical University Delft. Riedijk regularly lectures at universities, cultural institutions and symposiums worldwide. The work of Neutelings Riedijk Architects has received worldwide appreciation through numerous publications, international awards and exhibitions around the world.

Christine Conix is one of the founders of CONIX RDBM Architects with, Jorden Goossenaerts and Frederik Jacobs. The organisation consists of a multidisciplinary team of 65 members operating from offices in Antwerp, Brussels, Rotterdam and Terneuzen. As the result of the merger in 2013, CONIX RDBM Architects has become an important player in the Belgian and Dutch world of architecture. Conix Architects was founded in 1979 in Wilrijk by Christine Conix. Conix Architects already made a name through various residential and private projects and got internationally renowned due to the Belgian European Pavilion for the World Expo (2010) in Shanghai and the renovation and extension of the Brussels Atomium (2005).Christine Conix is an architect whose vision on architecture is one of a kind. She knows perfectly how to bring functionality and aesthetics together and she outshines in the conceptualization of her projects. Her initial approach has always been the same: find a unique answer to each place. In 2016 Christine Conix was honoured by being awarded the Laureate of Work for Architecture.

Julien De Smedt is the founder and director of JDS Architects based in Brussels, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Shanghai. Prior to founding JDS Architects, Julien worked with Rem Koolhaas in Rotterdam, and co-founded the architecture firm PLOT with Bjarke Ingels in Copenhagen. In 2013 he co-founds with William Ravn the agenda-driven design label Makers With Agendas, addressing matters of society to create meaningful products. Among other awards and recognition, Julien received the Henning Larsen Prize in 2003 and the Eckersberg medal in 2005, the Maaskant Award in 2009 and the Prix Dejean in 2014 from the French Academy of Architecture. He has been a guest lecturer in numerous venues worldwide and a professor at Rice University in Houston, Texas and the University of Kentucky and currently teaches at MIT (Cambridge, USA) and at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. His work is published and exhibited internationally.

One more premiere this year!
The event series Architects, not Architecture will hold its first edition in Belgium. Every architect knows famous buildings – but do you know the people, who designed and built them? Who are they, and how did they become what they are today? You will find the answers, and a lot more, at AMUZ on November 21.
The concept is always the same and has already inspired thousands of people in different cities. Architects, not Architecture or “AnA” – as the name suggests – provides a glimpse into the biography of great personalities of architecture. The event series is not about the projects of the architects, but about them as individuals, their professional backgrounds and formative individual experiences that shaped the works we all know. This provides new perspectives and inspires on a more personal level. Come to AMUZ and discover a new kind of event series.
On 21st November, two well-known Belgian architects and one special guest are going to talk about their personal experiences and important creative periods in their lives and, as always at “AnA“, not a word may be lost about their projects:
