KATHRIN GIMMEL

About the Speaker

Kathrin Gimmel is a Swiss/Danish Architect and partner at Copenhagen-based JAJA Architects where she is involved in all aspects of the studio’s work. JAJA is a practice with great passion for the extraordinary and the everyday aspects of creating architecture and urban strategies and strives to offer playful and functional responses to the specific circumstance of each project. The studios work is experienced by both the brain and the heart and includes praised projects such as Konditaget Lüders, Vraa School, and Streetmekka Aalborg.
Besides her work at JAJA Architects, Kathrin is curious to explore and contribute to the architectural profession through advisory work and teaching. In 2019 she headed a studio at the summer school W.A.Ve at IUAV in Venice and she has previously been tutoring at the studio “Urbanism and societal change” at KADK in Copenhagen where she co-edited the book “Atlas of the Copenhagens”, investigating the mechanisms of sustainable city measurement in regards to the urban territory of Copenhagen. www.jaja.archi
