Welcome to Los Angeles, home of the iconic Hollywood Sign, and many architects that have achieved international recognition for their work. We are proud to host two extraordinary architects who will speak at the fourth session of our second Virtual World Tour on Tuesday, November 30th, 2021 live at 10:30 PST (L.A. time) / 19:30 CET (Berlin time).

With Clive Wilkinson, Clive Wilkinson Architects, and Lorcan O’Herlihy, Lorcan O’Herlihy Architects, we will have two speakers that approach architecture in a holistic manner. However, as always with Architects, not Architecture we will not be talking about their architectural works.

What we will hear about instead is their biographies, the events and the anecdotes that shaped the speakers and inspired them to produce the architecture they are known for.

Information about the speakers

Clive Wilkinson, FAIA, FIIDA, RIBA, is an architect, designer, writer and strategist with over thirty years of experience working at the intersection of urban design, architecture and interior design. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), a Fellow of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), and a former Board Director of the AIA | Los Angeles. In 2005, Clive was inducted into the Interior Design magazine ‘Hall of Fame’. He was named a ‘Master of Design’ by Fast Company magazine in 2006, a ‘Pioneer of Design’ by the IIDA in 2011, and a ‘Design Legend’ by Contract magazine in 2019. In 2010, Clive was formally inducted into the GSA National Peer Registry as an advisor to the U.S. Government on architecture and design. He has also served as a keynote speaker at global media, advertising and design conferences. www.clivewilkinson.com

Lorcan O’Herlihy, FAIA. Since founding his firm Lorcan O’Herlihy Architects [LOHA] in 1994, O’Herlihy has built more than 100 projects across three continents, and has been published in more than 20 countries. His commitment to design excellence in cultural, educational, and residential projects earned him over 100 national and international design awards, including the AIA California Distinguished Practice Award, the AIA Los Angeles Gold Medal, and in 2018 was named the #1 Design Firm in the US by Architect Magazine.
Lorcan’s professional practice has run in parallel to his academic pursuits, enriching and heightening both. He received a Master of Arts in History and Critical Thinking from the Architectural Association in London, writing a dissertation on social engagement and generative urban strategies. He has taught and lectured extensively over the last decade, including at the Architectural Association in London, Southern California Institute of Architecture [SCI-Arc], Cranbrook Academy of Art, Columbia University, Carnegie Mellon University, Pratt Institute, and the National Building Museum in Washington D.C. He is currently a Professor at the University of Southern California, and serves on the Board of Directors of Storefront for Art and Architecture. www.loharchitects.com
