We are extremely excited to announce the first physical AnA event held outside Europe. Join our trip to Sydney and don’t miss the participation of two of the most distinguished Australian architects: Angelo Candalepas and Richard Johnson.

We look forward to the event and look forward to seeing you there.

Together with you, we are touring the world to listen to the most celebrated architects of our time, share their unique paths and talk to them about their experiences and influences. It is one country, two world-renowned names, and their unique stories of becoming and being an architect at each event.

Originally planned as an online event, we are thrilled to announce the change to a physical event with livestream.

On Thursday, April 28th, 2022 live at 19:00 AEST we will visit Sydney and meet two of its most relevant architects at the Brickworks Design Studio Sydney. If you can’t make it live, save the link and watch it later!

The two following architects will talk about their personal experiences and important creative periods in their lives and, as always at “AnA“, none of their projects may be mentioned:

– Angelo Candalepas, Candalepas Associates, www.candalepas.com.au

– Richard Johnson, Johnson Pilton Walker, www.jpw.com.au

Doors open at 18:00 AEST.
The talks start at 19:00 AEST.

This event is kindly supported by our Brickworks, acoufelt and Cement Concrete & Aggregates Australia.

Richard Johnson is best known as the creator of some of the Australian most important and iconic cultural buildings and spaces of the twentieth century. He was educated in Sydney at the University of New South Wales, graduating in 1969 with First Class Honours and the RAIA Silver Medal. He continued his education at University College, London, receiving a Master of Philosophy in 1977. He has lectured and taught widely and has been an Adjunct Professor at the University of New South Wales since 1999.

At an unusually early age Richard was awarded an MBE, in 1977, for his work as architect on Okinawa Expo 75 in Japan. In 1985, in collaboration with Yoshinobu Ashihara, he completed Expo 85, Tsukuba, in the same country. In 2008 he was awarded the AIA Gold Medal for his exceptional body of work and contribution to the profession.

More recent examples of his work include: 363 George Street (1999), Art Gallery of NSW Asian Gallery (2003), Hilton Hotel redevelopment (2005), Westpac Place (2006), Arts of Islam exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW (2007), new work at the Sydney Opera House in association with Jørn Utzon, and the National Portrait Gallery – due for completion in December 2008.
