This globally acclaimed event series, originally founded in Germany, has been captivating audiences worldwide for over a decade. With more than 75 events across 16 countries and over 200 renowned architects sharing their stories, AnA has become a cornerstone of the global architectural community.
On Wednesday, October 15, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Auditorium of Fisher & Paykel’s new Global Headquarters in Penrose, the AnA stage will host two of Auckland’s most influential architects and urbanists, who will share insights into their personal journeys, focusing on the key moments that shaped their careers:

About the Speakers
About the speakers:
Julie Stout, Architect and Urbanist, and Distinguished Fellow NZIA, is an Auckland-based architect and urbanist, with her own practice Mitchell Stout Dodd Architects (www.mitchellstoutdodd.co.nz). With her late partner David Mitchell, Julie is responsible for a number of award-winning houses and public buildings, including Te Uru Gallery in Titirangi and their own house in Narrow Neck. She also teaches studios in design and urbanism at the School of Architecture and Planning, Waipapa Taumata Rau/University of Auckland. Active in the city’s urban issues, Julie is chair of Urban Auckland and actively involved in advocacy for a better city in Tāmaki Makaurau. In 2021 she was awarded the Te Kāhui Whaihunga/NZIA Gold Medal for her achievements in architecture and activism. www.mitchellstoutdodd.co.nz
Richard Naish, BArch FNZIA, worked in high profile practices in both Auckland and London before founding RTA Studio in 1999. Richard was determined to set up a practice with a strategic direction shaped by ‘New Zealand-ness’, producing work that responded sympathetically to people, landscape, and culture. These values have been enhanced by the practice’s commitment to environmentally sustainable design, a singular force which has underpinned the crafting of some exemplar projects on a global scale. Under Richard’s design-centric leadership, RTA Studio has won more than 100 NZIA awards and multiple international awards. A sense for adventure permeates the portfolio, whether small-scale or large urban interventions, these projects echo Richard’s own courageous spirit. Exploration and innovation motivate him at work and at play. Adventuring in his Taranaki backyard as a child, segued later, into mountain biking – pursuits that were forerunners of his interest in brave architecture that tackles the big issues.
