About Speaker

Patrik Schumacher first studied philosophy and mathematics at the University of Bonn and London South Bank University in 1980. He then completed his studies in architecture at the Technical University of Stuttgart in 1990. In 1999, he obtained his doctorate in philosophy from the Institute of Cultural Studies at the University of Klagenfurt. During his studies in London, he did an internship with Zaha Hadid in 1983 and became the most important collaborator for Zaha Hadid. 

Since 2002 he is a partner of the office Zaha Hadid Architects. He was involved in planning buildings such as the MAXXI – Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome, the central building of the BMW plant in Leipzig, and the opera house in Guangzhou. Schumacher became a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in 1996 and a member of the Berlin Academy of Arts in 2011 in the architecture department. Moreover, Schumacher writes numerous publications and holds public lectures on parametricism worldwide.
