About Speaker
Nanne de Ru is a founding partner of Powerhouse Company and has headed up the Rotterdam office since its opening in 2005. Nanne holds a Master of Excellence in Architecture from The Berlage, where he graduated in 2002, as well as a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering from the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, which he completed in 1998. In addition to running a global architecture practice, Nanne also teaches and lectures on architecture and design. Between 2013 and 2016, Nanne de Ru was director of The Berlage Centre for Advanced Studies in Architecture and Urban Design in Delft.  His work takes him across the world, from Santiago to Shenzhen.Â
Nanne de Ru’s work has been commended with a number of awards, including the Rotterdam Maaskant Prize for Young Architects in 2011, the Dutch Design Award in 2008 and the NAi/ AM Award in 2008. In 2015, Nanne de Ru co-founded RED Company with Niels Jansen in order to explore new ways of commissioning and developing architecture.

On March 10, 2021, we virtually traveled to the Netherlands, where we had the honor to have architect Nanne de Ru participate together with Dikkie Scipio.Â
This event was part of our Virtual World Tour 20/21, an event series touring a selection of countries around the world to meet some of the most influential architects of our time and get to know them on a personal level.
