About Speaker

Michael Schumacher was born in Krefeld in 1957. He studied architecture from 1978 to 1985 at the University of Kaiserslautern, where he also graduated. From 1986 to 1988 he completed his post-graduate studies at the Städelschule in Frankfurt with Peter Cook. In the meantime, he worked as a freelancer in the Sir Norman Foster office in London. In 1988, together with Till Schneider, he founded the office schneider + schumacher which today has branches in Frankfurt, Vienna, Austria, and Tianjin, China.

In 2000 Michael Schumacher was a visiting professor at the Städelschule in Frankfurt and from 2004 to 2009 head of state at the BDA Hessen. Since 2007 he has been a professor for design and construction at the Faculty of Architecture and Landscape at Leibniz University in Hanover. Many schneider + schumacher projects were honored with numerous prizes.
