Event text

Every architect knows famous buildings – but do you know the people, who design and build them? Who are they and how did they become what they are today? Discover it at our lecture series ‘Architects, not Architecture.’ Come to the Queen’s Hall in the Royal Library on October 11 and meet Kim Herforth Nielsen, Tatiana Bilbao and Louis Becker. They are allowed to talk about anything but their work.

In the past three years the event ‘Architects, not Architects’ ran successfully in Germany and inspired hundreds of architects in various cities. Now it comes to Denmark, Copenhagen. Fermín Tribaldos, Spanish architect and initiator of ‘Architects, not Architecture’ says: “The concept is always the same. The three guest speakers have twenty minutes each to talk about their ideas of architecture and (professional) biography as well as their personal visions and goals. But they are not allowed to talk about any of their projects.”

In Copenhagen, two Danish architects and one Mexican architect will share their ideas and background with us. All three are experienced professionals, who build award-winning projects around the world.

The event will be held in English.

Kim Herforth Nielson is the driving force behind 3XN since its foundation in 1986. For him, the art of architecture is to build a sculpture around the patterns of movement and the synergies that arise between people. Tatiana Bilbao is a Mexican architect whose innovative works often merged geometry with nature. She was committed to collaboration as an essential feature of her work and tries to regenerate spaces in order to humanize them as a reaction to global capitalism, opening up niches for cultural and economic development. Tatiana Bilbao will have a solo exhibition at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in 2019. The third speaker is Louis Becker from Henning Larsen. Over the three decades at the office, he has played an integral role in the internationalization of Henning Larsen and is spearheading Henning Larsen’s successful entry and positioning in the North American market. He believes that architecture must speak directly to users and give back to the society in which it exists.

Look forward to exciting lectures and discussions with our inspiring guest speakers. The open and personal atmosphere creates an evening ideal for networking and exchange.

This event is kindly supported by our partners SchücoJungDelux/Hess GmbH Licht + Form and BoConcept.

Virtual Feedback Cards for the Speaker

Dear viewer, Maybe you have never attended on of our events, but maybe you know this already. Your work is required! As the speakers share many of their personal experiences with us, we would like to present them a special gift, now in a virtual way.

Please write down on the following text box what you enjoyed most about the talk. Our goal is to present each speaker with personal feedback cards, as we do at our events. At our events, we collect the cards right before we start with the round table and hand them over in a box at the end of the event.

Please participate! Our speakers love it and we want to continue with this tradition.

Here, we will collect the messages and forward them via e.mail to our speaker:
