Max Dudler was born in Altenrhein, Switzerland. He studied architecture at the Städelschule in Frankfurt/Main and at the Berlin University of the Arts. In 1992, he founded the Max Dudler office, which today has branches in Berlin, Zurich, Frankfurt am Main and Munich. In 2004, Max Dudler was appointed professor at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. He has also taught at the Università IUAV di Venezia, the Università Bologna, the Politecnico di Milano, the TU Dortmund and the TU Munich. His work has received numerous awards, including the Nike for the best urban design interpretation in 2010 for the Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm Center and the DAM Prize for Architecture in Germany in 2012 for his work on Hambach Castle. His Heidenheim City Library has received awards including the International Architecture Award from the Chicago Athenaeum, recognition at the German Architecture Awards, the Fritz Höger Silver Award and, most recently in 2021, the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects for “Exemplary Building”. The Turley Areal received a Hugo Häring award in 2023.
