Home Edition 2020

Let’s keep the cultural life alive!  As a consequence of Covid-19, our social and cultural life has been reduced to a minimum and we all need to adapt to this unprecedented situation. Since we have a commitment with you, with the architecture scene, we came up with this new idea that is meant to lift your spirits and provide you with some genuine inspiration – at your home. Therefore, from Monday, March 23rd, onwards, each day at 7 p.m. we will be sharing one of the unique talks from the previous 35 events that we have held during the last 5 years.

TALK #20: Liza Heilmeyer and Stephan Birk

About Liza Heilmeyer and Stephan Birk

Liza Heilmeyer and Stephan Birk both joined Foster Partners in London upon their graduations. Subsequently, in 2005, they founded their own practice together in Stuttgart. Their work has been acknowledged with several awards, among them the prestigious Deubau-Preis for young architects, emerging architects award weissenhof architecture gallery, North Rhine-Westfalia award for young artists and Europe 40 under 40 – Europe’s emerging young architects and designers.

In the years 2010 and 2012 Liza was appointed to the convention of Federal Foundation of Baukultur. From 2012 to 2015 Stephan Birk held an interim professorship at the department ibk2 of University of Stuttgart. In 2015 he was appointed to a professorship at University of Kaiserslautern. Since 2012 the practice operates together with Martin Frenzel. www.bhundf.com

AnA Stuttgart 03 – Architects, not Architecture took place in Stuttgart for the third time on May 28, 2019. This time four impressive architects shared their stories at the Theaterhaus.  Stefan Behnisch, Peter Ippolito, Liza Heilmeyer and Birk Heilmeyer.

This talk is presented with the support of Aritco.
Liza Heilmeyer and Stephan Birk share their unconventional path to success and point out the importance of interdisciplinary exchange where everyone contributes to a project through their own specialized knowledge. Designer Alexander Lervik studied light throughout his career like Heilmeyer studied orange peel in the first years of her studies.

Over the course of three years Aritco’s team developed a revolutionary product, the HomeLift, by working closely with the designer Alexander Lervik. His deep understanding of light and how to skillfully utilize it helped develop a new design for a new era of lifts. The fusion of the natural light coming through the glass of the lift shaft and the artificial light within the lift creates a unique experience on every ride. The smartphone app Aritco SmartLift lets you adjust the color and brightness of the lift’s lighting. Learn more about their high-end home lifts here:          Aritco Home Lifts.

Virtual Feedback Cards for the Speaker

Dear viewer,
Maybe you have never attended our events, but perhaps know this already. Your effort is required! As the speakers share many of their personal experiences with us, we would like to present them a special gift, now digitally.

Please write into the text box below what you enjoyed most about the talk. Our goal is to present each speaker with personal feedback cards, as we do at our events. At our events, we collect the cards right before we start with the round-table-discussion and hand them over in a box at the end of the event.

Please participate! Our speakers love it and we want to continue with this tradition.

Here, we will collect the messages and forward them via e.mail to our speaker:
